The Story Behind This Artwork

This is the second piece in the 'Four Movements' series, following on from 'Still'.

After creating Still, I wanted to keep exploring the same idea, but this time with colours I’d never normally work with. And here we are... green and blue. Who would have thought.

After I finished it, I thought maybe I should create four versions, with each one representing a different movement, a different time of life if you will. 

Just like the first piece, I wanted the grid to be the first thing you see. Then you look a little closer and start picking up the individual shapes within it. Look closer again, and every square, rectangle and L shape starts to read like its own little painting.

For this one, I also wanted to add something a little different, so there’s one square completely missing. At first you might not even notice it, but once you do, it’s hard not to keep looking at it.

🧡 More Than Just Artwork

Our son Sonny was diagnosed with CLN2 Batten disease at just two years old. My wife Sarah and I created Sonny’s Canvases as a way to share our family’s story, raise awareness and help support Sonny’s journey and our search for future treatment.

Every artwork sold means so much to our family. When you bring one into your home, you’re becoming part of something much bigger than art.
