The Story Behind This Print
I originally created Emergence as a commissioned piece and the owner kindly gave us permission to make prints so more people could enjoy it in their own homes.
The brief was for an abstract artwork using blues, aquas, greys, blacks, whites and earthy browns but I was also given plenty of creative freedom to see where the piece would take me.
My original idea was to create strong lines coming from the centre with light shining through. But as the painting developed I decided to soften it and give it more of a cloud and ocean-wave feel.
I honestly think it turned out even better than my original idea. It feels powerful and calming at the same time and everyone seems to see something a little different in it.
🧡 More Than Just a Print
Our son Sonny was diagnosed with CLN2 Batten disease at just two years old. My wife Sarah and I created Sonny’s Canvases as a way to share our family’s story, raise awareness and help support Sonny’s journey and our search for future treatment.
Every print sold means so much to our family. When you bring one into your home, you’re becoming part of something much bigger than art.
